MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING
WEST GEAUGA COMMUNITY JOINT RECREATION DISTRICT
June 15, 2016 - Approved
Meeting was called to order by President Walt Waetjen at 7:03 pm at the pavilion of The Commons Park. Roll call was taken by clerk, Monica Gromek. Board members present: Linda Palchick, Bernie Mandel, John Gromek, Ed Curtis & Don Drockton. Jason Abate was also present.
Eagle Scout Xavier Zupp described how he is going to rebuild the main entrance sign to the park, as his Eagle project. He will use marine plywood plus vinyl lettering. The address of the park will be added separately below the new sign. Ed Curtis said he will need an invoice when the supplies are purchased. Bernie Mandel motioned to encumber $600.00 for supplies for this project. John Gromek seconded. Vote was taken: Walt, yes; Linda, yes; Bernie, yes; John, yes; Don, yes; Ed, yes. All in favor, motion carried. Walt signed his Eagle Scout project contract. Approximate completion date will be September 1, 2016.
The minutes for the May meeting were presented by clerk Monica Gromek. John Gromek motioned to accept the minutes; Don Drockton seconded. Vote was taken: Walt, yes; Linda, yes; Bernie, yes; John, yes; Don, yes; Ed, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report for May was distributed by treasurer, Ed Curtis. The May treasurer’s report showed: Ending checking balance: $26,308.33; Total disbursements: $6,382.75; Total deposits: $0; Unencumbered funds: $51,168.13; Encumbered funds: $1,656.50. Bernie Mandel motioned to accept the treasurer’s report; Linda Palchick seconded. Vote was taken: Walt, yes; Linda, yes; Bernie, yes; John, yes; Don, yes; Ed, yes. All in favor, motion carried.
Bernie Mandel motioned the following bills be paid:

Ed Curtis reported our lease for the Park is up in 2019. Ed Wren has not returned the EPA application since we gave it to him in January 2016. The 2017 budged is done. Nothing has been heard from Chester Township regarding chip n seal bids for our drive repair. Their Road Superintendent is leaving.
Facilities – Linda Palchick
Fields are being used still by Rec. Council Travel Soccer and Coed Soccer. Baseball is finished the end of July. Soccer Camp will be held in July and August. One graduation party will be held on June 25 for 140 people in the pavilion. Walt will notify Russell Police Chief to monitor the Commons that day. No other pavilion requests have been received.

The Park looks good, thanks to Jason Abate.

Walt Waetjen asked if our Board members could personally ask someone to serve on our Board, as we have two openings.
New Business
Discussion held concerning filing for the upcoming November 2016 election for our levy renewal. Bernie Mandel suggested a more fervent campaign including signs and ads in the paper. John will present levy information at our July 6, 2016 meeting at the Commons.
